This may be because you are over your email quota limit. Each user is allocated 85 MB of quota for their emails in Inbox folder. In order to receive future emails you need to move some emails out of your Inbox folder to make its size smaller than 85 MB.

To first check your email quota, you can use the command 'quota' from UNIX/Linux, or go to the following URL.

ENCS User Quota

If your Inbox quota has "Expired" here is the procedure to overcome this situation (In order to perform this you will need to have at least 85 MB disk space available in your home directory i.e. G,U or W drives):

Assuming user “j_smith” was doing this operation:

1. Login to login.encs.concordia.ca server through SSH terminal.

2. cd to your mail folder.

#cd /var/spool/mail/j/
(“j” is the first letter of ENCS username)

3 mv j_smith ~/mail/old_Inbox

4. All your emails in the "Inbox" are now moved to a folder name "old_Inbox". In order to view the new folder refresh the display of your mail folders in webmail. If you are using an email client like thunderbird or outlook you need to subscribe to the new folder first. You can then delete the unwanted emails from "old_inbox".
